ADAS Forward-Facing Camera Module PCB
2025-09-15
This project involves the design and manufacturing of a compact, high-reliability printed circuit board assembly (PCB) for an automotive advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) forward-facing camera module. This PCB processes real-time video streams to enable critical safety features including lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
Key PCB Specifications:
Base Material: High-Tg FR4 for rigid sections, polyimide for flexible section in rigid-flex construction
Layer Stackup: 6-layer rigid + 2-layer flex HDI construction for compact camera module integration
Copper Weight: 0.5 Oz with rolled copper for flex section to ensure >100,000 dynamic flex cycles
Board Dimensions: 30mm × 30mm rigid section with integrated flex tail for connection to main ECU
Surface Finish: ENIG with selective hard gold for ZIF connector contacts
Thermal Management: Thermal vias and copper coin under image sensor for efficient heat dissipation
Quality Assurance: 100% optical alignment verification and thermal cycling testing (-40°C to +105°C)
Functional Role:
This PCB enables critical safety functions in modern vehicles:
Image Capture: 8MP CMOS image sensor with HDR and LED flicker mitigation for clear imaging in all lighting conditions
Vision Processing: Dedicated vision processor running neural networks for object detection and classification
Safety Integrity: ASIL-B compliant design with built-in self-test and dual-core lockstep processors
