Pump PCB
2020-10-05
This project involves the design and manufacturing of a robust printed circuit board assembly (PCB) for an industrial pump system. This PCB acts as the intelligent control core, responsible for regulating pump operation, monitoring system health, and ensuring reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.
Key PCB Specifications
Base Material: FR4 with high Tg (≥150°C) for enhanced thermal stability and resistance to chemical exposure.
Layer Stackup: 4-layer construction to separate power, analog, and digital signals, minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Copper Weight: 2 Oz copper on outer layers for efficient power delivery to motor drivers, and 1 Oz on inner layers for signal routing.
Board Thickness: 1.6 mm, ensuring mechanical rigidity for reliable mounting in industrial enclosures.
Surface Finish & Markings: Blue solder mask with white silkscreen for clear component identification and improved durability.
Environmental Protection: Conformal coating applied post-assembly to protect against moisture, dust, and corrosive fluids commonly found in pumping applications.
Functional Role
This PCB is critical to the pump system’s operational efficiency and safety, performing the following core functions:
Motor Control: Regulating the pump motor’s speed and torque via variable frequency drive (VFD) logic, optimizing energy consumption and flow rates.
System Monitoring: Continuously measuring pressure, flow rate, and temperature to maintain operational parameters and detect anomalies.
